For the second time, I co-presented Inner Voice Dialogue at the 2013 Expressive Therapies Summit. See the workshop page to learn about unique workshops and this wonderful yearly collection of master expressive arts practitioners.
Once again I was honored by an invitation to be a Hermitage Resident and
present Inner Voice Dialogue to the staff at the Omega Institute - Summer 2013.
This is a prime example of living as if at any moment I might get the "absurd good news."
I presented Inner Voice Dialogue with Alexandra Milonas, on June 5, 2013 at NASW- NY Addictions Institute Conference on Innovations in Addiction Treatment. Our facilitation demonstration dialogued with an Inner Party Girl and then with an Inner Anxious Self. Both parts love cigarettes. Of course, the problem is that long-term substance dependence effects the whole person and not just the parts that reach for the short-term fix to avoid their feelings in the moment.
It was fun to demonstrate "Pragmatic Mindfulness" at the NYU Student Health Center on 2/27/2013. We explored everyday strategies on how to be present, reduce stress and achieve wellness. And yes, we blew bubbles and mindfully watched them drift. You too can try this, in your home and office:).
It's a pleasantly refreshing way to be fully focused in the moment.
"Live as if at any moment you may get the absurd good news."
Embodying this philosophy feels wonderful, which I was introduced to by the writer Colin Wilson. While acknowledging that life has difficulties and boredoms, why not choose optimism? It is in that spirit I welcome you to my blog, where we revel in our life that includes tiramisus and tsunamis, snakes that molt old skin and humans who shed old stories. Here's to cultivating a life of peak experiences that include shadow and light!
